The Adventure Hat

Brought to you by The Goof Off Club

What to do next

You heard about the club, you like the idea of a book made from your own trip — now what? Here is the whole thing, one step at a time. Do step 3 today; the rest follows on its own.

  1. 1. Pick your adventure. Small counts.

You do not need a plane ticket. A walk to the creek, a county fair, a Saturday market. The hat comes along — that is the one rule of the club.

  2. 2. Take the pictures before you leave the place.

Phone photos are perfect. Blurry ones count. Get the hat in a few of them, and grab one wide shot of where you were. Five good pictures is plenty for a book.

  3. 3. Paint one right now, so you know what you're getting.

The watercolor studio on the home page turns any photo into a painted print in under a minute. Try your favorite picture. Download it. That is a page of your future book.

  4. 4. Join the list — this is how your book gets made.

Books are made in small batches, in the order families raise their hand. Joining the list is what puts you in line. It takes a name and an email.

  5. 5. Watch your email for your book invitation.

When your turn comes, we ask for your photos, the place and date, and three small lines: one true fact, one funny or hard moment, one hope. Reply and your book goes into the studio.

  6. 6. Say yes to every page, then hold your book.

You see and approve the words and pictures before anything is printed. Approve, order your copy, and the adventure is closed — with a book on the shelf and the hat ready for the next one.

Questions people ask next

How much does the book cost?
$39 a book, no surprises. The whole price list is on the pricing page.
Do my kids need accounts?
Never. A grown-up sends everything and approves everything. Kids just wear the hat.
What if my photos aren't great?
Send them anyway. We paint hands, hats and places rather than faces, so even a shaky snapshot makes a good page.
